I've owned several power augers over the years. After running into mechanical issues that were very costly to resolve I decided to throw down the cash for a Jiffy as they seemed to be the most mechanically sound. (My father in-laws is almost as old as I am and even with severe mechanical neglect, it always runs and bores 10 inch holes until it runs out of gas) A few weeks ago, coming in from Granite Island I bounced my Model 30 around pretty good in the sleigh and the gas cap broke off, spilling gas all over the gear and otter shelter. That was my bad and I own it. So I got on the computer, went to the Jiffy website and sourced a replacement cap. A new cap was going to cost $3.47USD and shipping to my doorstep in Thunder Bay another $15.50USD......Hmmmm what else is there I can round out the order with to get the shipping costs up to the value of the merchandise? 4 bottles of synthetic 2 stroke oil later, the merchandise is worth $14. 50USD and the same shipping cost. Press order and watch the mail box! With the currency exchange the $30USD cost $40 Canadian... Two weeks go by and there is a door knocker in my mailbox, my Jiffy order is in! Off to the post office I go and find out I have to shell out $30 for customs and brokerage fees to get my gas cap and fuel mix. WTF??? The shipper at Jiffy put the value of the shipment on the paper work as auto parts worth $147 CA!!! Now I can go down to Canada Customs with the paperwork and get some of the cash back and it will happen. What is really disturbing is despite phone calls to the customer service at Jiffy, messages and emails, I haven't heard boo from Jiffy. They don't seem to care about their error. So, if you need to replace some Jiffy parts, and you order them out of the states from the manufacturer, be aware that it might cost you a lot more than you expect. Buyer Beware they say, so I thought I'd share! AB

Was out on Sunday fished off the point near moose beach. Ice was good it was random snow covered and wind swept. We walked out and there was one "puddle" near us but nothing was concerning. Fishing was slow . I can imagine its a bit messy after the rain though
