This comes straight from the Metis Nations of Ontario. The question in the PDF files is: "Can I harvest without any restrictions?" The answer is No. "In order to be covered by the Interim MNO/MNR Harvesting Agreement (i.e. no screening and no charges) you must be harvesting within the MNO’s Harvesters’ Policy (i.e. have a valid Harvester’s Certificate, respecting conservation and safety requirements; harvesting within your traditional territory; harvesting for food - not commercial, etc.)" In the case of harvesting below the weir. According to this document, I interpret the wording that a person of Metis decent cannot harvest in this situation. They would be in violation of this agreement due to that fact that this weir (or any other fish ladders, etc.) are measures taken by the MNR to protect and manage a particular species of fish, thus ensuring conservation. Therefore, would harvesting below the weir not violate this document? In any case, I still think it would be best to call the MNR tips line. http://metisportals.ca/MetisRights/wp/wp-admin/images/MNO-MNR Harvesting Agreement-2004.pdf

they are easy to find on any decent electronics, i haven't tried them in june but do in july august. can be quite fun. they spawn in the fall so should have no business being anywhere near shallows in spring time with pike walleye spawning and feeding, I troll around till i find fish stacked under thermocline in tight groups,. your sonar will return way more bottom area in deeper water, you dont want just one small hoop, there should be multiples, Also deeper water is typically structureless so any returns or marks on bottom could be fish then jig for them. try east shorelines with a steep drop, natural funnels or bays would be a good start id start in 35-40 fow then maybe try deeper, later in summer im fishing 90-100 fow i don't use weights i have some big hair jigs i crimp on an additional small hook , or i use a heavy spoon inline as a flasher and tie a small hairt jig 1ft under spoon (remove hooks from spoon).
