    Golding lake trail info

Just wondering where I can park and where exactly the public trail was located to access the lake. Thanks.

    ICE?

The trail access to Golding was off onion lake damn road then down Golding lake road. Have gone there for the last 15 years as I just live down the road until a new property owner posted the trail access as private and set up trail cameras. I hear there may be another access trail from the end of onion lake road , but looking at land owner maps it’s looks to be private as well. Sure do miss going to that lake.

Has anyone ever been to Golding lake near hazelwood was checking satellite couldn’t find a trail in but figured there must be something?
  5. There is no longer public access to Golding lake from the end of Golding road. Someone has bought a piece of property just a short ways in from the end of Golding road and has posted no trespassing signs on that portion of the trail. I don't know of any other public access to it from else where. Does anyone know of another way in ? Thanks

    Golding Lake

So, I went to see if I could find this lake today, and came up with nothing. I'm assuming I chose the wrong path when the trail forked, but maybe I just didn't follow the one trail far enough. Has anyone been out this way that can point me in the right direction? The road isn't plowed past the last house, so that's where I parked. I started walking down a snowmachine trail from there, but the trail split, and I went to the left. Maybe it's time to start bringing a gps on these adventures.... If was actually to the right, does anyone know how far? If it actually is to the left, there's no way I'm going back without a snowmachine lol.

No longer public access to Golding lake

I spoke with a Resource Management Coordinator at the MNR who I believe is the main person in charge of stocking the local lakes and he stated that as there is still access via crown land to Golding lake that they will continue to stock the lake. Which I feel is great news. The only issue here is that a new trail needs to be established and I spent sometime mapping that out over the Christmas break. While I haven’t pieced together the full route yet, I believe I have the best general route and some parts of it. Below is a screenshot of my wanderings. You’ll note sections where the lines are consistently in the same location and places where I’ve found some other route. I did the first couple of trips before the deep snow came in my boots and the last couple of trips with my snowshoes which I found made a significant difference in the path I took. I’ve flagged the “trail” entrance at the road with some pink flagging tape. The person I spoke to at the MNR mentioned a new cut road was put in on the north side of the lake but I drove up there and couldn’t find anything that went anywhere close the lake. If anyone knows of a better route or would like to help establish this route I’d be interested in meeting up there sometime.

No longer public access to Golding lake

I’ve been fishing Golding lake for 35+ years and I actually find it kind of sad that we are not allowed to go there anymore. It was never great fishing for me but just good enough to get you to go try again. Haha

    Golding Lake.

Hey everybody, its been some years since I have been to Golding Lake, and have only gone in the winter. I recently purchased a home in that area and am fortunate enough to walk out the back door and hop on the ATV to venture off and explore. Now my question is how do I get there again?! everything looks so different when there isn't a snowmobile trail to follow! Thanks in advanced! Also, how has the fishing been there the past few years?!

    Golding lake

Anyone know if you have to cross private property to access Golding lake, its around Pike Lake Road. I'm not too sure but someone told me there was no access because of private property but its suppose to be a stocked lake so I just can't see that being the case.

  18. I'm looking to head out for brookies, splake, or lakers. Just a lakehead student wanting to hook into some good numbers of fish. Have had poor luck lately for walleye at whitefish and lac, wanting to change it up. Tried Oliver lake on thursday and we didn't get a bite. Also tried Golding lake with the same results earlier this year. I appreciate any helpful info about lakes and techniques! Thanks

    chub lake

Having a two and four year old I think I fall under the mobility issues category! Driving a minivan doesn't help right now either! I love fishing of all sorts and currently have a shack sitting out at Lac,but would like to find some lakes I can fish a little closer to home so I can head out with my boys for a short trip and introduce them to be interested in the best sport in the world! Thats how I stumbled across this website while googling Hazelwood lake.I am glad I did for it is a great way to stay a little more in tune with fishing in and around Thunder Bay. I also had dug out the Crimestoppers book of stocked lakes that I bought years ago and was excited to try some speck fishing. First stop Golding Lake.First lesson.Dont' kid yourself and think you can pack everything you need to fish plus a two and a four year old hiking in! I did try! Just not for long.I didnt even make it down the trail.Back to the van, next stop Adrian! That was an easier access!Tobbogan ride down to the lake! Managed to fish for twenty minutes!Mission accomplished. No bites, but now we know some where to try another day!Although little brother may have to wait for summer fishing! So as you can tell I'm pretty anxious to get out, explore and wet a line! And anyone knows to get a kid interested in fishing,a fish on the ice is a good start! So I wont be going to Chub to abuse it, but considering its closeness, ease of access(which I am assuming?) and chance of seeing a speck I will hopefully go try. If anyone can recommend another lake from that book to try with equal accessibility I would appreciate it! Thanks for the tips! Share the wealth! Sorry for ramblin'laid off and itchy!

    Golding Lake

This is one of my favorite speck lakes!!! I have been fishing this lake for over 12 years. When I first started fishing it was very common to catch a limit of 11/2 pounders in less than an hour. I have also caught several 5lb+ fish over the years. When it comes to ice fishing however I have only caught 2 fish over the past 100 times out there. I don't ice fish her anymore. The way in I've always taken is as follows. Head towards Onion Lake. Take a left on Golding drive and head to the end. The road is short and after the last house on the left it continues into a cut. There's a small road on the left take this one. It heads up to a small clearing with the remains of an old cabin and a few junked cars. I usually park there and follow the trail up. The trails ends at the lake and there also is a sign saying golding lake. However I have noticed the sign is usually not there as ppl try and hide this lake. There is a small trail on the left the heads to a rock outcrop. Good fishing on this whole side. Worms or leeches are the bait of choice. If you're ice fishing beware of the center of the lake. This is where most of the springs are and usually the ice is thinner there. Good Luck!

    ice fishing specs

I was out for specs a few days ago and didn't have any luck with'em at all, same thing I tried the whole tackle box and still nothing but I was at golding lake and I've found that lake hard to fish successfully. I find it's better to fish them a little earlier in the year and then just hold off till soft water opens.

    Hard Water Day Trip

Started off at Golding lake trying for Specs but pulled the pin after a couple hours of nothing except beautiful weather. Decided on an afternoon trip to Onion Lake caught lots of small guys and a snake with only one keeper to bring home couldn't complain with weather like that.Heading out somewhere tommorrow for Lakers or maybe the big pond for a shot at some rainbows.Fish On
