Just wondering where I can park and where exactly the public trail was located to access the lake. Thanks.
-
That road extension toward Golding is not in the work plan for this year, but sometime before 2030....
-
Yeah no kidding, the wife and I tried snowshoeing in from further down onion lake damn road from Default lake last year , but the terrain was just way too steep and rocky combined with the deep snow. Wasn’t worth the headache. Have pulled some nice sized fish from Golding.

...a loop road (Dufault Rd.) will/might be completed this year...a portion of it is already completed, E. of (Green)PikeLk. ...it will cross the N.end of that pond N. of the N.E. end of Golding...

The trail access to Golding was off onion lake damn road then down Golding lake road. Have gone there for the last 15 years as I just live down the road until a new property owner posted the trail access as private and set up trail cameras. I hear there may be another access trail from the end of onion lake road , but looking at land owner maps it’s looks to be private as well. Sure do miss going to that lake.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of info on Golding Lake. Have a read. ps: TIP for new members using the search feature - when doing a search on a specific lake or river or whatever put "quotation" "marks" at the beginning and ending. If you don't the results will contain every post with lake in it. In the golding lake example there will be about 23,575 results with only 22 being golding lake specific. If you search just golding there will be about 75 results. 22 results: https://fishingboard.thunderbayfishing.com/index.php?/search/&q="golding lake"&quick=1 75 results: https://fishingboard.thunderbayfishing.com/index.php?/search/&q=golding&quick=1 Also, don't be afraid to start your own new thread on a topic or lake. Hope all this helps out new members a bit.

Has anyone ever been to Golding lake near hazelwood was checking satellite couldn’t find a trail in but figured there must be something?

There is no longer public access to Golding lake from the end of Golding road. Someone has bought a piece of property just a short ways in from the end of Golding road and has posted no trespassing signs on that portion of the trail. I don't know of any other public access to it from else where. Does anyone know of another way in ? Thanks

So, I went to see if I could find this lake today, and came up with nothing. I'm assuming I chose the wrong path when the trail forked, but maybe I just didn't follow the one trail far enough. Has anyone been out this way that can point me in the right direction? The road isn't plowed past the last house, so that's where I parked. I started walking down a snowmachine trail from there, but the trail split, and I went to the left. Maybe it's time to start bringing a gps on these adventures.... If was actually to the right, does anyone know how far? If it actually is to the left, there's no way I'm going back without a snowmachine lol.

Sorry, I was talking specifically about the old access off Golding Rd. I’d imagine it is being developed.

I going to head into Golding Lake. Does anyone know how to access it. Thanks in advance.

Why not start from the clear cut and road parcel just south of the lake and west of the now private road…. Judging from topo maps you can get to Golding from that square without climbing up and then down…

The middle green flag is the newest cut up pike lake road that I am aware of. It has been cleared and there is a road that goes in off of Pike Lake Road for quite a ways but it doesn't go anywhere near Golding.

I spoke with a Resource Management Coordinator at the MNR who I believe is the main person in charge of stocking the local lakes and he stated that as there is still access via crown land to Golding lake that they will continue to stock the lake. Which I feel is great news. The only issue here is that a new trail needs to be established and I spent sometime mapping that out over the Christmas break. While I haven’t pieced together the full route yet, I believe I have the best general route and some parts of it. Below is a screenshot of my wanderings. You’ll note sections where the lines are consistently in the same location and places where I’ve found some other route. I did the first couple of trips before the deep snow came in my boots and the last couple of trips with my snowshoes which I found made a significant difference in the path I took. I’ve flagged the “trail” entrance at the road with some pink flagging tape. The person I spoke to at the MNR mentioned a new cut road was put in on the north side of the lake but I drove up there and couldn’t find anything that went anywhere close the lake. If anyone knows of a better route or would like to help establish this route I’d be interested in meeting up there sometime.

I’ve been fishing Golding lake for 35+ years and I actually find it kind of sad that we are not allowed to go there anymore. It was never great fishing for me but just good enough to get you to go try again. Haha

I wish I knew who the new owner is I would ask for permission just to pass though. I talked to a fellow with the mnr this morning and he said that Golding is crown land and most of the surrounding bush is also crown land so he said its just a matter of making a new trail in on crown land. He also stated they will continue to stock it.

Hey everybody, its been some years since I have been to Golding Lake, and have only gone in the winter. I recently purchased a home in that area and am fortunate enough to walk out the back door and hop on the ATV to venture off and explore. Now my question is how do I get there again?! everything looks so different when there isn't a snowmobile trail to follow! Thanks in advanced! Also, how has the fishing been there the past few years?!
-
Golding road, Apple maps shows it.
-
Maybe this is a silly question but what road is the trail to golding lake located on? Google maps doesn’t show it that clearly.
-
Anybody been to Golding early in the season? I've been looking for some small stocked lakes near town to try in early December, but would suck to make the hike just to have to turn around. No sled or ATV, so just walking in.
