Guest fancy pants Report post Posted July 8, 2011 Just curious if a .410 slug is acceptable for hunting deer. Have heard some conflicting opinions and figured I would get my info right from the horses mouth. Thanks in advance.
Guest MNR Report post Posted July 12, 2011 The hunting regulations state:“A person who is hunting big game (deer, moose, elk, bear) may not use a rifle known as a rim-fire rifle, a shotgun smaller than 20 gauge when loaded with shot or any shotgun loaded with shot smaller than SG or number one buck. “ Your .410 loaded with a slug for deer is OK.Remember that a person hunting small game, when in an area during open season in the area for a species of big game, shall not possess or use, a) a rifle of greater muzzle energy than 400 foot-pounds; or shells loaded with ball or shot larger than number two shot.If you are hunting grouse with your .410 don’t have slugs with you if there’s an open season for moose, deer, bear or elk unless you’re licensed for big game too.
