brookiebuster 117 Report post Posted December 13, 2011 Since wolves are classified as "small game" dose that mean you can only use .22 calibre rifles for them? Or is there a exception for wolves? Guest MNR Report post Posted December 13, 2011 Wolf and coyote are classified as small game and fur bearers under the Fish and Wildllife Conservation Act and you may only hunt them under the authority of a small game licece (or a trappers licence in the area listed on the licence). In Wildlife Mangement Units 1A,1C,1D, 2-42, 46-50 and 53-58 you must also purchase a wolf/coyote game seal. You can purchase a maximum of 2 game seals per calendar year.If you are hunting small game (eg. wolf, coyote, grouse) in an area where there is an open season for big game (eg moose, deer, bear) you may not possess or use a rifle with greater muzzle energy than 400 foot-pounds or shells loaded with ball or with shot larger than No. 2 shot unless you possess a valid licence to hunt moose, deer or bear. A valid licence to hunt moose, deer, or bear means that you must have or be party hunting with someone who has a valid game seal.
