mmgg 26 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 I was up there last year , driving slow noone stopped us just waved hi,,, the north half of the lake usually has thin ice and freezes over a month after most lakes around. Guest ontarioblair Report post Posted February 14, 2012 all i got to say is good luck if you decide to go up there, tough fishing, population has been depleted by gill net fishing, there is lakers and whitefish in there, and you can use a boat, but if your not a fort william first nation band member, you need permission to access the road, to the launch, or bring a band member with you. there is another trail into there too from carp river road, but no launch for boats and it would be tough for a vehicle to get in there pretty much walking only, Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

This is the way i was able access during the summer which leads to the dam that someone posted a link to earlier in this thread. Go about 5 km then turn right then turn right again then follow (if you can) to the lake. We didn't fish though, it was a 4 wheel drivin trip just for kicks. The trail was trimmed back as a quad trail so a few of us explored it with our little suzuki trucklets. It was a sweet trail! No fullsize gonna make it though but at least if thats what youre driving you can put the snowmachine or quad in the back and park before the first turnoff. Guest ontarioblair Report post Posted February 15, 2012 ya just follow mission rd to squaw bay and instead of turning left to continue on the main rd, turn right and follow the ridge on the right, around the lake, if you happen to make it to the river the steel head fishing can be good, there are game trails you an hike too, good partridge hunting in the fall, as well. but keep in mind it is all part of the reserve, they may frown upon non-natives being their.
