eddylives 99 Report post Posted May 24, 2012 We run a 79 johnson 25hp out on superior.Last week a prop spun off/out of the rubber bushing in the hub(no shear pin style prop)So we thought oh well , just an old prop and it was it's time.Put another spare prop from the shed on , it had been stored there inside for many years and kept motoring.A few hours later this prop also failed in the same way , spun the rubber out in the hub of the prop.So I have to ask if anyone else has had this problem? Is there an issue with the motor itself?Does any one know of any place to bring a prop in to be remanufactured? Or have any to part with? Thanks for any input. Quote Have no fear of perfection.....you will never reach it
Some Old Guy 968 Report post Posted May 24, 2012 It sounds like your prop that was stored in the shed for a long period of time, the rubber dried out and didn't last long. There are props available. I went to J&J to get one for my old motor years ago. Give them a call and tell them about your motor. I'm sure they'll have the prop for ya!Roger Quote R.T.R. Respect the resource! Adrian 132 Report post Posted June 1, 2012 When I worked at a marina (years ago) we used to replace the rubber inserts regularly, not a big deal with the right tools, they are pressed in, check with the dealersAdrian
