World Record Lake Trout Release Article - Field and Stream

wow! i know that lake produces alot of Lakers, but Clearwater was more the favourite for lunkers thru the ice every year.

Very healthy lake. Our day trip into White Otter last summer produced some real nice walleye up to 28". On Clearwater, we were marking and landing a ton of whitefish in 80 to 100 feet of water, as well as some nice smallies suspended over the areas. Picked up a few decent lakers but weren't geared up for fishin the big deep areas where the monsters supposedly hide. Looking forward to our two weeks there in July 2013! Beauty place to be.

Always nice to release a fish that big, however, if you are going to release a fish of that magnitude you should NEVER hold the fish near its gills while letting all of it's body weight hang free putting pressure on its spine. It can break the fishes back especially when it's such a heavy fish. Always support the fishes body with one hand just under the belly so as to minimize the stress on the fishes spine/back.
