sinker7 114 Report post Posted March 17, 2014 Went back to Squeers for round 2 on Saturday. Fortunately the morning temperature was not as cold as forecast. However the wind was relentless throughout the day. Ended up going alone as other members of the party chose to stay home and keep warm. Fishing was almost a copy of Tuesday's trip. Landed 14 trout. Brought home a 5 fish limit, four of them between 16-17" and one just shy of 25" - it weighed 4 lbs at the MNR station. Also landed another decent pike around 12lbs that was released. Funny, fished the lake since 1989 and never caught a pike and only witnessed 2 other pike being caught by nearby groups in that time...this year landed two pike on consecutive trips. Moved spots three times on Saturday to keep on the fish. The morning bite was good in water less than 50ft and the afternoon bite was focused on 75+ feet of water. The bite in the afternoon was much tougher but deep water was the only place I could mark and catch fish on the Vexilar. Here is a summary of the results up to Saturday: Day..................# of Anglers....# of Lake Trout......Biggest LT........# of PikeSaturday.................123..................189....................5.5lbs...............1 (7lbs)Sunday....................74....................181...................9.5lbs...............1 (11lbs)Monday....................34.....................53....................3lbs..................0Tuesday...................29....................54..................... ???.................1 (15lbs?-released)Wednesday..............24....................34.....................3lbs..................0Thursday..................43....................65.....................2.5lbs...............1 (14lbs)Friday.......................38....................43.....................2.5lbs...............0Saturday...................40....................70......................4lbs.................1 (12lbs?-released) Thanks to the MNR for putting on the fishery again this year. The crew at Squeers, as always, was very pleasant and informative.
