RH. 56 Report post Posted August 10, 2014 I am really new to deer hunting and want to give it a try this fall and have alot of confusion, to get a deer tag is there a draw you need to enter or can you just go buy a deer tag just like you would go buy a small game license, i will be hunting in WMU 13 and i am also wondering what other rules there are to hunting in this area
Porkchop21 34 Report post Posted August 10, 2014 You can buy a buck tag right over the counter. They do have a draw for anterless (doe) tags every year, however they usually have a surplus of doe tags which you can buy over the counter at the MNR building on James St if your quick enough. If you have a buck tag, you can shoot a buck in any WMU, however a doe tag is only good for the WMU that is on the tag (ex WMU 13).
Pro fisherman-Stud Muffin 420 Report post Posted August 10, 2014 Just buy a tag. only good for antlered. Does tags purchased separately. Deer draw is for antlerless validation. So your buck tag can go on a doe. Same rules as any other gun hunting. I'd sit down and read regs front to back. Quote 2016 Dog Lake Open Champion. RH. 56 Report post Posted August 10, 2014 So if i buy a regular tag over the counter i can only shoot antlered deer in wmu 13?
ghart 55 Report post Posted August 10, 2014 If you buy a reg tag ie liscence it is good for an antlered deer anywhere in ontario. You do not specify wmu because you dont need to. A surplus doe tag can be bought as well, that you need to specify wmu because it is only good in that wmu.Tags are good for bow or gun seasons.Next year if you buy your liscence tag early you can enter for the antlerless draw for which you will have to specify the antlerless wmu. That results in a tag for antlered anywhere or a doe in the wmu specified Quote In the Age of Information, Ignorance is a Choice.

milspec 9 Report post Posted August 28, 2014 I walked into the James St. office on tuesday and bought a Buck Tag, and an additional deer seal. Cost about $90 for both.
Spectre 21 Report post Posted August 28, 2014 Should be soon. Gotta go to James street to get them What a coincidence you can get the deer themselves on James Street too... Down by the soccer fields, sleep in my front yard, eat my wife's flowers... I hear about it CONSTANTLY!
RH. 56 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 is there a limit on the amount of deer tags your allowed to buy in a season if you keep filling your tags?
Thefishleclair 175 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 1 buck tag and if its the same is last year 2 antlerless. Best to ask at the services canada counter. There may be other areas you can purchase more surplus tags. Quote Grumpas' Baits Check it out on FB
