AB 98 Report post Posted December 22, 2014 Was out today and tried from 18 to 30 feet of water and we got 24 in 18 feet of water Were you able to hit those depths inside the 1st ice ridge? Just wondering if you could catch the north end of the deep water trench without going over the ridges? It would be nice to use the quad (safely) for access. Might spread out some of the pressure to if there is good fishing to be found away from the shacks and other anglers. thanks, iceman
crazyctr 227 Report post Posted December 22, 2014 hi iceman the deep trench your talking about is a mile past the ridge
RH. 56 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Can someone explain to me what these ridges are and if they are past the shacks or closer to shore
therealfndeal 61 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 We were more out towards green point and across the ridge on snow machine wouldn't recommend using quad crossing the far ridge
crazyctr 227 Report post Posted December 29, 2014 this is a pic of the ice ridge when we came in tonight its sleds only for now until we get a bridge made. this is the narrowest spot about 4 feet wide most spots are almost 10 feet wide so be real careful crossing the ridge

crazyctr 227 Report post Posted December 31, 2014 the bridge is finished atv`s are the best means of transportation on black bay right now not enough snow for sleds to get cooling just go slow when crossing the bridge always remember safety first
Pro fisherman-Stud Muffin 420 Report post Posted January 1, 2015 Fishing was slow ish , a fair bit of human error amongst the older anglers. and yes liquid sleds maybe over heat , had to stop 3 times. No studs or scratchers Service was top notch. Great shack warm out of the wind we were in the ice floor day shack. Great with kids 1 2016 Dog Lake Open Champion. allymeagan 16 Report post Posted January 3, 2015 Is Black Bay road maintained in the winter? Or is there a better way to access the area by car?
Lyle Reiner 174 Report post Posted January 3, 2015 The road to the launch is a municipal road and is usually well maintained Prostaff For Lowrance Canada

scandiman 114 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 Black bay road (the road off of hwy 11-17 just after the wolf river bridge) is not maintained in the winter, however the hurkett dock road, off of hwy 582 (hurkett loop), is maintained in the winter and can easily be accessed via car. Just don't expect to drive that said car onto black bay lol
crazyctr 227 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 black bay is sleds only again big snows drifts and the ridge shifted the bridge is now 3 feet in the air

pbear 24 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 It is a lengthy quad/ sled ride out to good fishing but Gary runs a shuttle out there, pulling a sleigh behind his snowmobile. Worth it for good fishing.

crazyctr 227 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 anyone thinking of going out on black bay make sure you check the weather report. if it says 15 km winds or more in town it will be a 60 km or more wind on black bay there is no shelter out there so use common sense its not worth anybody getting hurt out there or worst
