Walleeslayer 1 Report post Posted December 20, 2015 Went out on Saturday to try and get into a spec lake around whitefish area. ran into a real mess with all that wet snow the trail was bushed in with trees up to 4 inches round bent over. It would have taken hours to clear it enough for a sled. Anyone else try this weekend to get Into lakes in other areas ? Ended up going to a splake lake that was a short walk 4-5 inches of ice and 6 inches of snow plus 2-3 inches of slush on the lake, may try another way into the spec lake over Christmas break. RH. 56 Report post Posted December 20, 2015 Fished a few lakes around dorion, the trails were a bit tight from the heavy snow bending them over, and the ice was pretty sketchy at times (put my leg straight thru the ice while walking on the lake), but other then that it was decent
BMAN84 2 Report post Posted December 21, 2015 Fished a stock lake today, a good fishermen would have caught his limit. I only landed one. My minnow bag left empty though. I fed them good. Lost two at the hole. Couldn't hook the rest.

Foozer 194 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 We tried a couple stocked lakes this past Saturday. Fished 9-1 on the first lake and only managed one small one. 1-4 on the next without any luck. Only 4" inches of ice where we were standing and open water near some shoreline and beaver houses. Venturing out again Boxing Day to try again! 1 Quote Since we can not call female anglers "fisherman" We should just call 'em hookers.....
kharris 24 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 I went out both this Sunday and last Sunday and did really well with the specs. I was in the dorion/nipigon area. There was only about 3-4inches of ice and some spots were pretty slushy. Last Saturday I hiked into 3 new spec lakes but didn't have any luck. I just didn't put enough time on each lake though.

pastor norm 125 Report post Posted December 23, 2015 but what do I know...? I haven't caught many specks here during September. The BC triploid specks they stock are nipigon stock but never that colourful. And they would never hit a mighty mitch jig.
