Your Go To Jig Colour? Or spinner?

Recommended Posts

Some Old Guy

I have my go to jig colour. I like black or white. Black being my first one to tie on.

After if those ain't working I'll try (in this order) orange, pink, green chartreuse, yellow chartreuse then so on.

What's yours?

I don't really use spinners right now. But my go to jig color is usually yellow/chartreuse. I should probably try more options.

Yeah I'm not married to any specific colours myself but that's how I usually start off.

I haven't tried purple or blue but I hear some guys swear by those colours. I think I'll have to try them out.

Kinda of depends on the water clarity:  in order of preference

Clear lakes jigs I use are glowgreen/white or white bi-colour/black

Clear lake spinners I use are hammered silver or gold.

Stained lakes jigs are orange/purple/whiteglow/chartreuse/pink

Stained lakes spinners are hammered gold, blue and white, pink and white, firetiger

My biggest selling jig in my part of the country is the yellow chartreuse/orange or as we call it the jig of death.  It is also one of my favorites.  Here is a picture of some of my favorite colours.

The candy purple is one of my favorite colours, find it works great with a leach.

Love that green colour in the middle bear, but my go to color is just a plain jig head, all of the spots I go to it always produces

I'll second the glow jigs especially thru the ice in white, charteuse, yellow, green, either alone or combos of them. As well as some bubble gum colours with blue.

That's a green chartreuse.  There is also a green glow that looks similar, just a little washed out.

I like orange, chartreuse, or pink in dark lakes such as lac de mille lacs, but black or white works well in lakes such as Loftquist lake.

My go to spinner is a hand tied hammered gold with gold beads. On cloudy days I'll use hammered silver with silver beads. That's it. I don't change it up very often.

The past 2 years, my go to spinner has been a holographic pattern, very impressed with the results. I also like a gold sparkly jig. I used to be big on chartreuse jigs and spinners, I have to get back into that.
