i was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to get into birch lake? and also if its worth it to walk in the winter or if i should wait till spring

looks like a trail going in less than a km from the East Arrow turn off.  Last summer I parked at the Y and just bushwacked through.  pretty easy walking and quick.  Easy to cast from shore. lots of 8 inchers.  would be nice to paddle around to deeper water.
