Lake of the Woods question

Recommended Posts

Henda

I am potentially going to Kenora this weekend to attempt a last ice fish.

I am looking for any suggestions on bays to fish for lake trout, or walleye, nearby Kenora. I do not know the area at all, so any suggestions on general locations would be helpful, as well as any ice condition reports. I dont need any secret spots I just have no idea where to start in terms of locations. I will be on foot. Thanks! Feel free to private message me.

Trout are going great in the Kenora area.  If you are on foot the best lakes for you would be Keys lake or Silver Lake.  Keys is about 50 K north of Kenora on the the Jones Road.  Plenty of parking and the lake is right beside the road.  A short. walk out from the beach where there are holes and fish.  Silver Lake is about 15 k up the Jones Road, and has good fishing but can be hit or miss.  It is also a short walk out to where people have been fishing.

If you want to go down to Sioux Narrows, one of the outfitters there has had some great success on Whitefish Bay, landing lots of trout over the past few weeks.  Let me know if you want his contact info and I'll pass it along.

There is still 18-20 inches of good ice.

Good luck
