Strong rod holders

Recommended Posts

flybum

So... I currently have RAM mount rod holders and last season while catfishing, I almost lost an expensive musky combo over the edge. That being said, 65lb braid and almost maxed out drag played a part  in that. My RAM holders are fine for  walleye and light trolling and set ups with lighter drag but I'm looking to get some STRONG rod holders.

Does anyone have experience with or currently use the Down East brand of rod holder?

any other suggestions ?

thanks, B

I do not own any and have never used them, but people I know down south and out west swear by them for Muskie fishing, and they have tried other rod holders.

Of the down east appeals to me (since they're cast metal) but the ease

of use of the folbes looks awesome. Not sure if anyways close by sells either.

The Folbe look good also, but I didn't find them on Cabela's Canada site.

well, i have just read some reviews from musky and salmon guys about the folbes and i think I'm sold. The crappy thing is, i have a crestliner. it has the stupid track system and the standard mounting bracket isn't big enough to fit the folbe bases. That leaves me with one choice and that is to mount the holders on down rigger brackets(around 100$ each)... this could get expensive...

thanks for the input guys!!! ill report back once i get everything purchased and  mounted.

Cheers!
