hookset 18 Report post Posted December 1, 2016 I cut up a monster buck the other day and it had about 3 inches of a arrow with a broad head in its back strap towards and under the shoulder blade. One of the blades came off the broad head and was digging its way through the underside of the shoulder blade. The arrow shaft was incased in a puss pocket, so this guy had been hit last year. In the same shoulder blade there was a puncture hole from the outside of the shoulder blade going in towards the body. At first I thought this unlucky buck had been shot prior with a rifle. Again this wound was sustained last year because of the scar tissue that was around it. After digging in further there was no lead to be found, so I'm guessing he got the wrong end of a horn in battle last year. Deboning one of the back legs I found a bone spur on its femur and hip bone. This guy at some point broke its back leg. Which was also healed up. So if anyone out there shot high on a quartering away buck, monster buck I may add, it did survive. Until this year. Now its somebody else's trophy. hookset 18 Report post Posted December 1, 2016 Not my deer, but it was in the top 5 of the biggest I've seen this year. All the deer I see are hanging upside down from the back legs.
