Tip-Up 2 Report post Posted May 5, 2017 First post so please go easy on me! I'm from Wpg and coming to TB this coming June for a week to try and catch my first salmon. I'm thinking that at some point the wind will likely keep me off the big lake and wondering about a plan"B" for that day(s). I'm guessing that there must be some great smallmouth bass fishing in the lakes somewhere around town. We have a few lakes with them here but very few with the quality that NW Ontario is famous for. Could somebody please suggest a good big bass lake for me. I'd rather catch a few really nice ones than a hundred smaller ones. I can catch dinks here around home. Feel free to message me if you don't want to broadcast you're secret spot across the world wide web and I promise to keep it in the "vault"! Thanks in advance...... Tip-Up 2 Report post Posted May 6, 2017 Thanks to those with the legit replies. This trip is kind of a reward for a good school year thing for my son aswell and I really want to make it great for him. It can sometimes be hard to fish an area for the first and possibly only time. Just being pointed in the right direction is a huge help. Thanks again!
arvey 154 Report post Posted May 6, 2017 Tip up not far from town , east on highway 11/17 there's a lake called Pass Lake it's maybe a 45 min. dr. To the west right from Whitefish to Northern Lite Lake every lake has bass in them and are easy to get to. Hope this helps.

Trevor Zimak 171 Report post Posted May 7, 2017 You BEST bet is whitefish lake. We just had a club tournament and the top three teams went 22.94, 22.33 and 21.82 for 5 bass. 4 smallmouth just over or under 5lbs were caught today. Now... I have never fished the lake after Mid June and have heard the bass are super hard to catch after that? Our pic of 21.8lbs

gsambray 172 Report post Posted May 26, 2017 Try sunbow or Madeline. Both produce good numbers and good size. the pic with the 2 walleye are a 13 and 15 inches. The bass are a lot bigger
