northofthunder 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2018 We finally drew a tag in an area that is new to us, 1C, been hunting for over 30 years and seen just like most of us tags decline. Tired of calling possible outfitters looking to get raped for $3000 per person for a bull tag plus possible $800 for an extra flight to get the moose out. Seems like they like to cater to US dollars but hey that's business and we have a choice. This year we decided to venture to an area where we don't have to parallel park on a road to moose hunt like we did last year in area 21A, wow seen it all, drove down 10 km on dirt road came to a swamp and ran into a guy that walked the trail and sat there most of the day with no moose in sight, " wolves were bad last year he said and I just smiled and wished him a great hunt and wandered how in the hell I can find a trail with no one around, we didn't so we decided to go someplace with little or no traffic. Traveling from Waterloo area, it is a trip of a lifetime for us and we are looking forward to it. We love to fish and read many posts on fishing and as imagined it will be great, but didn't see any posts north of Pickle lake on moose hunting. Has anyone fished/ hunted the area north of Pickle lake, pass Badesdawa or Mud Lake that would suggest a possible camping spot, we have a 30 foot trailer and a small boat. Read some posts on nice camping spots on Mawley lake and Stirland. Are there any cuts up there? If you would like to share some moose stories it would be greatly appreciated, we also are looking forward to meet some outfitters in pickle lake area , hopefully they price hunts in our dollars as dragging a trailer 22 hours is abit much. Any suggestions on outfitters to contact while there? We are traveling last week of September.
