Replacing boat carpet with vinyl

Recommended Posts

ccuconato

Hi all.
I am looking to replace all my carpet with vinyl while we are in the transition season. I already have the vinyl but looking for Some insight on what kind of adhesive and plywood to use. I have read a lot of mixed reviews on different kind of adhesives in line. Thanks

I have used vinyl flooring from Home depot on a few boats now and have been pretty happy with the wear and tear.  Can't remember the name of adhesive but it was designed for the outdoor vinyl carpeting through them. There is some set time on that glue before you put vinyl down. And just remember that sometimes the gaps etc are larger on boat hatches that were initially carpeted compared to vinyl. I found this out on my lund when I redid the bow. Still looks pretty good but had to add some weather stripping to fill the gaps around deck lids. Carpet is easier to hide corners and laps at edges. There are some tricks to how to cut the corners on vinyl to get good looking corners and edges.  Definitely nice for fishing and cleaning your boat compared to carpet but not as comfy on the knees and tends to get hot in the sun...pros and cons.

Does anyone know where to buy the marine carpeting I have to replace most of my boat this year. Or if someone has some they want to sell.
