RLS 35 Report post Posted July 13, 2020 This is a bit of a rant but I think it needs to be said. I am an avid angler. I am also a local to the Pass Lake area. Being at the launch on a fairly regular basis, I have noticed a huge change this year. I have also talked to other anglers that have been going there for many years and they have noticed this issue as well. Common ramp etiquette has disappeared. Never have I been told before "just wait a minute" while they put away their stuff and tidied their boat or cleaned multiple fish. What happened to clearing the ramp so other boats can get in or out? Don't tell me to wait...you moved it out of the water keep moving off the ramp. Also if you choose to clean your fish at shore the makeshift dock is not a personal cutting board. Blood and guts left on it. Leaving carcasses to sit out and rot and STINK, to be dragged throughout the area by wild critters. At least have the decency to throw it into the water. Maybe even away from the ramp so people don't step on it. The dock is for commercial fishing. Don't park and block it, don't back your boat trailer onto it... it's not yours. This has always been a nice place, and everybody I have encountered before was always nice. If somebody needed a hand loading a boat help was was just offered. I am disgusted and dissapointed. Please can we just use some common sense because its getting out of hand here. Respect the space and respect your fellow anglers. Thank you for reading my lengthy rant I hope as a group we can try and make sure this stops. I would hate to lose this public launch. 7

Bobber Down 921 Report post Posted July 13, 2020 I love a good rant as well but it was prob not someone who is a member here causing the issues at the ramp. It is up to everyone you talked to at the ramp including you to educate others regarding ramp etiquette. If nothing is said nothing will change. Wave and say hi, ask if they have a problem or if you can help. Talk to them. Ranting here won't help you. If they give you guff slap em in the back of the head. If they are bigger than you, run.☺️ 1 Quote Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW - what a ride!!! 550 10 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 I love a rant too. There is nothing worse than cleaning someone else fish carcasses or other garbage out of the lake at launches. There is no reason to throw crap in the lake. I have a camp close to a beautiful launch, people camp there all the time ,kids swim there ,they use the water to wash their dishes even have solar showers. I pump water up to a citron to use in the sauna and in the camp. But unfortunately there is always someone who thinks a lake is the place to throw the stuff we don't want to look at .beer bottles diapers empty cans and fish cuts. its disgusting,Im sick of cleaning it up after 30 years of doing it I' ve decided to stop. AB 98 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 Unfortunately, as the saying goes, "if you build it, they will come" The improvements to the road and parking area at Dock 5 have made it a really attractive access point. More people are using it than in years past. Many are nice folks, but in any group of people there is a proportion that are fools who don't give a darn about anyone else but themselves. Unfortunately these people seem to get their kicks trying to outperform each other's poor behavior. RLS & 550, I share your frustration over what is happening down there. Perhaps when the renovations are completed out at Silver Islet the traffic at Dock 5 will be reduced and conditions will improve. Tight Lines!
