TroutHunter 39 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 Has anyone had any experience with Peetz reels? Specifically their 3 inch or 3.5 inch fly reels? Looking to get something unique for a 4wt micro spey setup and I'm loving the look of the carved mahogany. Thanks! Quote ** People often ask me why I like hunting and fishing so much... spindilla1 42 Report post Posted September 21, 2020 I have one of those in my fly reel and centerpin collection, the problem is I never want to use the thing because of the carvings. I'm always afraid I will damage it. Once you get the feel of what sort of reel you want and have the money to do so I would recommend a custom spey reel. The wood is good (that's what she said) but if you spey fish west coast or anywhere for that matter but constantly in the rain its hard on the hands and like I said once it gets wet consistently its not a good reel to beat on. When its moist it damages easily. More of a collectors item rather than a fish 365 days a year reel. Not adverting or anything but I've had a few made by a guy named Ron Gardiner owner of RSG custom reels and he will make exactly what you want.
