10 min lake ice fishing

hey im wondering if anyone has had luck ice fishing there.

I have tried it twice and nothing... people regularly ice fish it though, they're doing it for a reason

Been there a few times. Hit and miss. Some day you will get a few and then nothing for weeks.

Tried last year in early Dec with my dad.  Sat there all day and late in the afternoon we finally got our first and only bite.

My dad figures it was at least 4lb’s but the line broke with the fish coming up the hole.

 

Couple years before that, after a few hours of nothing, I decided to walk to a Ranger and back to check the trail.

When I got back my dad had 5 fish about 15” on the ice and toasting a sandwich over a fire.

Sat there for the rest of the day.  
Not a goddam bite after I got back.

 

Maybe it’s hit or miss....or

Thanks for the replies! Tried by whitefish for 30min and caught a rainbow! First time ice fishing.

Nice.  I'm thinking of heading out tomorrow, first time ice fishing as well. Is the entire lake frozen, or did you pretty much stick close to shore?  

I'm just walking out anyway so I'm not going to be trekking too far.

I went to a stocked lake  close to whitefish. Called pothole. Im not sure how the weather made the ice over the last few days but whitefish was pretty solid when i went last. I only checked like 10 feet out tho!. Had 5 or more inches

Good ol pothole... nice little lake, the walk up the hill isn’t to much fun.
