Colep123 9 Report post Posted January 11, 2023 Hey there y’all, just wondering about the Depths and spots I should be aiming?! Big baits preferences? Or smaller baits? Going in without a finder so just trying to figure some areas!
AddieH 6 Report post Posted January 11, 2023 Super deep lake with some serious drop offs. I’ve only summer fished with minimal luck for lakers. Supposed to be even tougher in winter. You have a topo of lake?
Colep123 9 Report post Posted January 11, 2023 Just a rough map I go off of. I’ve heard beside the gorge is a decent spot but then the ice can be sketchy so I’m probably going to stay away from that area right now. I drove by last week seeing skidoo trails all over but still. I’ll most likely be following footsteps.
Colep123 9 Report post Posted January 11, 2023 Also was thinking of trying out some sucker minnows but I opted for some large frozen minnows instead.

Snag??? 173 Report post Posted January 12, 2023 Depends on species you’re after. Lakers burbot walleye. I’d be setting out catch everything so I’d set up shallow. Early season last year walked out on burchell several times north end lake and caught more Lakers in 40 fow than other depths up to 70 feet. Fish won’t swim up steep breaks exception of trout. Look edge flat on turn somewhere n or south of lake. Eg.

Colep123 9 Report post Posted January 13, 2023 Most definitely an underrated lake forsure. Especially one that is so close to town. Very easy access aswell. I’ve heard from people who camp there that the lakers can get hefty. Aswell as whitefish there too. Heard of many instances of people trolling for them towards the west end. So I am hoping that the fMonday morning I go I can see them swimming in buddies finder, and hit something Atleast! Weathers been ideal lately too. Goodluck everyone!
