Fishog 215 Report post Posted May 29, 2023 Your more then likely to die from mercury poisoning as most of the lakes are polluted with it from all the mining going on around us. Cook it to the proper internal temp and enjoy your meal.

Little Sturge never had mercury till Lac de sille mine started their trailing ponds. Goes to show just how far pollution travels through the water system. In this case the mine is not even in the same watershed. Has nothing to do with the mine at all.

mad scientist 140 Report post Posted May 31, 2023 12 hours ago, 123 said: This is exactly what it looked like my picture was not very clear Most of the diseases and parasites that fish get in Ontario...black spot, yellow grub, lymphocyistis, and a bunch of others...are really specific to fish, and in some cases to individual species of fish. People can't get infected. Cut off the ugly spot, cook it well, you're good to go. But a couple, including myofibrogranuloma, haven't been well studied...consequently, as Minnesota points out, the advice is that people shouldn't consume it, just because the data isn't there to say it's safe or not.
