I took it in 2007 and it was very valuable.

If you spend any time in our great outdoors, then this course is for you. Whether a active participant in outdoors activities, or just a traveler of isolated rural roads, this course will provide information to enhance your knowledge, and could save your life.

The classes are planned to provide the background and theory prior to 'hands-on' practice during the outdoor exercises. The final outdoor exercise is an overnight winter camping experience, giving the opportunity to practice what you've learned about emergency shelters, fire building, clothing and sleeping bags. Although the 'Overnighter' is not mandatory, it is a social event that most of our students are glad to have participated in.

All instructors are volunteer members of Lakehead Search & Rescue, and have all taken this course at some time. Instructors as well as members will be on hand throughout the course to help with any questions, and give freely of their knowledge and experience.

This year's course is already over, but I would recommend taking it next year. It is a fundraiser for Lakehead Search & Rescue.

Not just a 3 month season but a 12 month obsession!!!
