Bottom Bouncer 22 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 Can anyone tell me if they have ever caught Walleye on a verticle jigging Rapala through the "ICE". Well not just one I mean consistenly, does anyone use it as there go to lure through the ice. I've talked to some good Walleye anglers and they say that they have caught pike but not Walleye. I've tried them when I was catching Walleye jigging a jig and minnow and then experimented by throwing a Rapala down with no luck. Am I doing something wrong is there a trick to these lures. Any advice or experience with these lures would be great. Quote REELBAIT
NWO Fishing Bum 2 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 I've tried one several times with minimal luck; only 1 fish I believe, in several attempts. Jig and minnow or jigging spoon with minnow has outproduced the jigging rap each time. I've tried various presentations with the jigging rap, all with no luck, so your experience certainly doesn't surprise me. NWO Fishing Bum

NWO Fishing Bum 2 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 Really? I've jerked, jigged, strummed and dead-sticked all with little success. That somewhat surprises me, though I've never tried it for Lakers or Herring, only 'eyes, which typically require a finesse presentation through the ice.
