troutchaser29 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 I'm thinking about taking my Dad out to lac des mille lac on the weekend or early next week. I've only been there once and paid $10 to drive out from savanne(?), but the guy working it (at least 2 years ago) was oscar the grouch. Theres something about givng my money, even if its only 10 bucks, to some rude and ignorant social slug. I'll gladly pay more, or drive farther for better service. So my question is, what is the best way to get on the lake? By talking with some of the boys at work, you can drive farther to open bay or pine point. What is the price to park and then snowmobile from each of these, and is it possible to drive on the lake from somewhere other than at Oscar the grouch's place? Domer 103 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 I'm assuming that by oscar the grouch you mean Sunny Catcher at sawmill bay. I know that Gary is not that grouchy unless you don't listen to his instructions he gives to travel on the lake. Especially if he has to come out and get ya. When you turn down the road stay right after the pipeline and you will access through gary's property. I have never had any complaints about him but the other guy I mentioned earlier, well dont get me going about him I have nothing good to say about him. Dom. Guest adams Report post Posted December 11, 2008 ive used the access at maki bay a couple of times (at the the end of athelstane lake road). costs 10$ to park for however long you need, and the lake access is in a great spot... closer to coffin island than sawmill bay?.... i think.... not sure on that one. either way its not far. best to call ahead to verify ice conditions, road conditions etc... -adams
