Bear 77 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Is anyone using Fireline for ice fishing. How is it? Does it freeze up and do you like it better than Mono? Has anyone tried it for trout at deeper depths. Thanks Bear
sinker7 114 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Hi Bear Over the last few years I have gradually converted all my ice rigs to Fireline and with no regret. Line freeze up is not an issue. Last year we were using 6lb(2lb diameter) Fireline in 90 feet of water for lakers. Hook-ups were virtually 100%.
Bottom Bouncer 22 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 I like to think I'm the biggest fan of Fireline, I've been useing it since the first year it came out. (Longline trolling,Bottom Bouncing). I would definetly use it for Lakers when line stretch is a factor in deep water, but I have recently this year gone back to mono with 3 of my 4 walleye rods (ice fishing) I still jig with fireline but I set my dead lines with mono. speckmaster 114 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 I use Fireline Crystal for lakers in the winter and it works great. With virtually no stretch, you're can't beat it for hook sets.
