anyone going or been out to hazelwood lately?

i havent been since last year just wondering how it is and whats biting and the usual questions.. if anyone could inlighten me it would be cool

I've fished it a few times this season, we have tried in front of the dock, in between the islands, on the outer side of them out to about 300m and on every other side of them as well. We've got a few smaller pickerel, a couple pike and a bunch of perch. A buddy of mine did manage to land about a 3 1/2 or 4 pound pickerel and that was our best fish this winter so far out of there. Its been slow for me, but this is my first winter fishing it, I'm sure there are some people on here as well who know of some better spots or have more success than me, alss theres a few other posts on hazelwood as you look back could be some info in those for you as well.

As well, we were using jigs of all color in the 1/8 and 1/4 oz. size with large minnows, and suckers on the first trip, and we also tried mediums on another trip. We've tried some jigging spoons with no luck yet and a few tube jigs. The best producer was the 1/4 oz. chartreuse jig with a sucker minnow hooked through the lips.

I fished around the islands all day today and managed a couple pike no walters. Earlier in the season did decent for pickeral around the islands now they dont seem to be too interested, each time out seems a bit slower. The guy i was with said he got some whitefish around the same spot and the odd pickeral too.

Was thinking of trying some new spots but all the snow made moving around prety tough.

Anybody know any other good spots on the lake, I wanted to try the around the island near the river going into the lake on the far end.

Where do u park wen entering from the Lappe side? MIght try from that end.

Do the fish in that lake move toward that river to spawn? Maybe itll be a good spot as the season goes on.
