I'm interested in the survival course offered through Lakehead Search and Rescue. Has anyone here taken it and what did you think? I spend alot of time in the woods and always go prepared but theres no harm in brushing up on old skills and maybe learning some new things.

The registration cost is $90 and well worth every penny. It should also be known that this is the main fund raiser for the unit.

I took the course about 20 years ago. It was excellent then and probably better now. I found the map and compass work very beneficial. Lots of hands on stuff to keep your interest. GPS wasn't around then but i am sure they teach that now. If you spend much time in the bush you should enjoy the course. Well worth the money.
