davek 1 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 How can one access the lake in winter and in the summer,is this a private lake for the owner of the road to the camp that is on the lake. The trail signage states no motorized vehicals allowed so how would one get to the lake in winter and how can you get a boat to the lake in summer. Why is there no boat access? Guest MNR Report post Posted March 25, 2009 MNR Answer: There is an access approved for North Lake in the LaVerendrye Provincial Park plan, however, to date there hasn’t been any funds to develop it. It was to be located just west of the private property at the end of Addie Lake Rd. This was to be the approved summer access. The area around the trappers cabin where the sign is located (“Notice Unauthorized motor vehicles prohibited beyond this point”) is a Nature Reserve Zone protecting aquatic flora. Right now, the only legal water access (other than by canoe) is to launch at the U.S. side of Gunflint Lake and line your boat upstream to North Lake. If you have further questions about access to this area, please contact Ontario Parks at 807-473-9231.
