Some Old Guy 968 Report post Posted March 16, 2009 Despite cold temps and very horrid slush conditions a few hundred anglers got together for the Whitesands Ice Fishing Derby near Armstrong Ontario. These anglers were competing for the top prize of a 2009 Dodge Dakota. Thunder Bay Angler Archie Hoogsteen iced a 3.14 pound walleye to take the truck home. The walleye was caught on a white tube jig in 65 feet of water. Second place prize was a Crestliner boat with a 6 hp fourstroke that went to Greg Kok. Greg landed a 3.8 pound lake trout. Archie will be sending in some pictures and will be posted asap. Roger Quote R.T.R. Respect the resource!
Guest doddzy Report post Posted March 16, 2009 The slush was terrible, couldn't find the holes they drilled, had to find a derby auger, never had a bite in 4 hours but, I was fishing!! Is it true Archie snagged that walleye by the tail! Congrats Archie!
