Does anyone on here know if an argo is registerable as an offroad vehicle or ATV? Or does it even need to be? Does putting the tractor warning triangle on the back of it count?

Permit required

An Argo does need to be registered. You can't operate it on a Hwy unless it meets a lot of requirements.

This is very complicated Legislation as the Off Road Vehicles Act governs ATV's/Argos, etc. but the Highway Traffic Act has regulations dealing with the operation of these on Highways.

There is a link towards the bottom of this post that goes over all the requirements.

"off-road vehicle" means a vehicle propelled or driven otherwise than by muscular power or wind and designed to travel,

(a) on not more than three wheels, or

(-) on more than three wheels and being of a prescribed class of vehicle; ("véhicule tout terrain")

3. (1) No person shall drive an off-road vehicle except under the authority of a permit for the vehicle and with the number plate showing the number of the permit displayed on the vehicle in the manner prescribed. R.S.O. 1990, c. O.4, s. 3 (1).

Permitted highways for ATVs

4. (1) Subject to subsection (2), no off-road vehicle shall be driven on a highway listed in Schedule B. O. Reg. 316/03, s. 4 (1).

(2) All-terrain vehicles may be driven on a highway listed in Schedule B only if, in addition to meeting the requirements of Part III, there is only one driver and no passenger on the all-terrain vehicle at the time. O. Reg. 316/03, s. 4 (2).
