Slick_Jig 6 Report post Posted July 19, 2010 I received a under age drinking fine 7-8 yrs ago at a provincial park, which shows up on my record. How do you go about being pardoned for a minor offense like this? Thanks Quote Gone Fishing Men and fish are alike. Guest MNR Report post Posted July 27, 2010 The offence of drinking under age is a violation under the Ontario Liquor Licence Act, which is a provincial statute. Records of convictions and warnings are held in provincial data bases and are available to enforcement personnel only. Officers will typically run background checks on people found committing. They use that information in determining what course of action they would take in either giving you a warning, issuing another ticket or summoning you to court to stand in front of a Justice of the Peace. Provincial offence records will not show up on a criminal records check usually done by prospective employers. Pardons are reserved for criminal offences (e.g. drunk driving). A pardon allows people who were convicted of a criminal offence, but have completed their sentence and demonstrated they are law-abiding citizens, to have their criminal record kept separate and apart from other criminal records. Under the Criminal Records Act (CRA), the National Parole Board (NPB) may issue, grant, deny, or revoke pardons for convictions under federal acts or regulations of Canada.
