Guest FreshwaterFisherman Report post Posted December 22, 2010 Me and some friends are renting a cabin for the new years weekend. We all have valid licenses for 2010 but we will not be near a retailer of fishing licenses on the new years morning, since we will require valid 2011 licenses but will not be able to get to them without a long drive is there any way we can purchase them in advance, i am sure lots of people will be out of town on that morning so what are they all doing? Guest MNR Report post Posted January 4, 2011 The quickest way to purchase your fishing licence is to purchase an "E-Licence" or electronic licence. An E-licence is an "instant" licence that can be purchased at the Outdoors Card website. An E-licence can be printed and used immediately. It is one half of a complete Ontario resident fishing licence and must be carried with an Outdoors Card to be valid. Purchase when renewing Outdoors Card Anglers who are renewing their Ontario resident Outdoors Card at the Outdoors Card website may buy E-licences at the same time. The following E-licences are available when renewing: three-year sport fishing E-licence three-year conservation fishing E-licence one-year sport fishing E-licence one-year conservation fishing E-licence (Ontario residents renewing a hunting version Outdoors Card are also eligible to buy a three-year or one-year small game E-licence at the time of renewal.) Your plastic Outdoors Card with embossed licence tags will arrive by mail in approximately two to three weeks. Purchase with valid Outdoors Card Anglers who have a valid Outdoors Card may buy E-licences if they have not already bought a valid licence tag for the activity. The following E-licences are available for purchase with a valid card: one-year sport fishing E-licence one-year conservation fishing E-licence (Ontario residents holding a valid hunting version Outdoors Card are also eligible to buy a one-year small game E-licence) A plastic Outdoors Card is not mailed when purchasing an E-licence in this way. Using your E-licence An E-licence becomes valid when it is carried with either: an Outdoors Card containing the same 15-digit number as the E-licence OR an Ontario Resident Temporary Fishing Licence and Outdoors Card and Application containing the same personal information as that under which the E-licence was obtained. When either of these conditions is met, the E-licence entitles the Ontario resident to fish (or hunt small game) during the open season according to the licence(s) purchased. For more information about E-licencing, please call the Outdoors Card Centre at 1-800-387-7011, Monday to Friday during business hours. To purchase an E-licence, go to the Outdoors Card web site.
