Any idea when the survey results will be released or where they can be found if already released?

Thanks in advance.

Ø A Moose Aerial Inventory for Wildlife Management Unit 13 was completed this past winter.

Ø The final numbers for WMU 13 were; 3845 moose. This compares to 4122 from the 2008 moose survey.

Ø Given that the confidence intervals of the survey are +/- 20%, there is essentially no change in the population (= stable).

Ø In the opinion of some, this is good news, as some people were actually anticipating a population decline.

Ø 2011 Moose Aerial Inventory 29%bulls 55%cows 16%calves 29 calves/100 cows 1.92 cows/bull

Ø 2008 Moose Aerial Inventory 23%bulls 62%cows 14%calves 23 calves/100 cows 2.66 cows/bull

Ø Calf numbers improved (marginally), which is again, good news. Hopefully this is an indication of an increasing population.

Ø Adult Moose Validation Tags allocations have been calculated using the new population estimate and most recent Tag Fill Rates (obtained from the Post Card Survey).

WMU 13 Adult Moose Validation Tags for 2011

740 Resident gun bull tags (change of -35)

375 Resident gun cow tags (no change)

62 Resident archery bull tags (change of -3)

45 Resident archery cow tags (no change)
