    Question

Any reason there isn't a general message board for the the Walleye Monks group to post to? Or am I missing something here.
  3. Two times out and results were awesome
  4. Title says it all, Recently moved back to Thunder Bay and have been trying my luck everywhere I can from shore. When I do land one it's too small to even be a few bites of dinner. Was looking into boat rentals or finding a fishing buddy with a boat as I am told that there are some good holes on the Kam one can try for
  5. I too am here for school, engineering transfer by chance? If you want someone to go exploring bodies of water with, let me know cause I would enjoy the company. You in to fly fishing? Its frustrating trying to fish the Kam in town and seeing everyone rip down it in boats getting to all the fish! Haha

New to the area. As in the entirety of eastern Canada...

  7. Came to Thunder Bay to finish school from B.C. Suffice to say fishing here is very different from river fishing for salmon back home lol. I brought my coho rod and reel, which seems rather large compared to what I see the guys on the water using- 9.5' rod w/ Amassadeur 6500 reel- it does the trick though! kinda... I'm stuck on shore, no boat and no money for one as a student I'd appreciate any insight, locations, ideas, tackle suggestions, technique etc! I've put in three days in a rented canoe on Dog lake and three more evenings on the Kam outflow up Silver Creek Falls road and haven't even seen a fish, let alone had a hit or hooked into one. DnR recommended tackle- spinners behind a bottom dragging sinker, a small plastic fish with two trebble hooks and rattling beads inside it, and jigs. Lots of jigs. Attached image is where I've been casting into mostly, "crooked rapids" according to google maps. Thanks in advance!
  8. Water level is at least 2 feet low. Beaches are starting to show up. Water temps ranged from 66 F to 72 F. Lots of rock bass today. 1 decent Pike fight wise, no smallies and 3 Wally's for dinner. All Walleye caught around 3pm when it was 31 C or 88 F. So hot without the wind. Again, #7 Flicker Shad's and Flicker Minnow's were force fed. Met a guy who tried to launch at Dog Lake and said not a chance. Nothing but rocks. No water at the launch. Didn't get into which launch. Pace Lake Road launch at East Bay may be interesting for the DLO this weekend if levels don't rise.

    Back on the water again

No buoys placed! Fishing wasn't terrible, wasn't amazing either tho. Trolled cranks and got a few and then switched to jigging and started picking up a lot more fish. No size to anything caught today

Good Luck Jaden. I won't be out but let the club members know how you did. Let me know if they got the bubbler buoy's placed.

    Back on the water again

Heading on the water tomorrow to try my luck with one of my friends who doesn't fish much but enjoys it, hoping to get him on some walleye action, we'll be in the black legend boat if you're out and happen to see us!
  12. Well got on the Kam today for the first time this year May 23rd 2018. Didn't take any video footage. Water is at least a foot low from last years summer level. Water temps ranged from 61 to 66 F. Warm! It was a nice day. Had a nice troll up to the Old Fort. Only saw tree other friends waving as I went by. Gotta love these friendly people. Maybe they know I carry a full first aid kit on board and hey, I also can remove embedded hooks as well lol. If you need a treatment look for the karaleesmiles. Anyway, caught nothing spectacular. 3 Bass, 2 Walleye and a Northern all of which went back. One Bass was 19 inches and put up a spectacular battle, worthy of story and song. A young Black Bear sitting by the water watched us with curiosity as we trolled by on the way back to the dock. It would be nice if another club member would post something about their exploits. I look forward to reading them.

    Slow day

Lots of Bass biting today. All Walleye we caught and released were small.

    Fall Walleye

It's that time of year when most boats get put away for the year. It's also that time of year the Walleye put on the feed bag for the coming winter.

    Kam

Spent 4 hours on the Kam today. Not a Bass not a Pike not even a Ruffe. First time I have ever caught one of these this year though. It can only get better no!

    Kam

Here is another shadow line worth looking at. Places where small bridges cross a creek. In this example you can see how the shadow line creates a resting place for fish. I have personally seen multiple steelhead resting under this bridge as well as speckled trout. They feel safer being in the darker area. Take a quick peek if possible before moving close to fish these areas

    Kam

Fishing was better today. Lots of Bass. Walleye bite seems to be improving.
  23. Bobber Down

    Kam

Went out today and rocked the Kam. Some Bass, Pike and 2 Walleye.

    Kam

I have seen many anglers ignoring these spots along the river. Even as you troll under the Hwy 61 bridge there is a shadow line. One on both sides to be exact. Don't pass up areas like this, they can hold fish. Give them a try before moving on. During the hot summer days when the temps are in the 30's trolling like in the video or just anchored the temp drop is quite pronounced. Almost like opening a freezer door. The water can be almost glass like as shown. It doesn't look like much of a current but there is a bit. Look for something different. Look for the shadow lines.

    Kam

Went out today. Pretty calm not a lot of action. Video is of a spot that has treated us well this year. I call it Birch Hollow. I will be adding more video's on the Kam as soon as I can.
