AB 98 Report post Posted October 5, 2011 I had the good fortune to hunt an area that the birds wanted into this week. In 45 minutes I was able to limit out for the day on ducks and geese. That's pretty cool, but not uncommon when you hit it right. What made it a dream day was recovering a bird band, and then another, and another, and then another one! 4 bands on one day. That's more then I've collected in 20 yrs of waterfowling in Canada.2 were from Canada geese - a female, born in 2011 and banded near Winisk, Ontario, and a male banded as a young immature bird in 2007 near Minnehaha, Indiana. The other two bands came off Mallards, a male and a female - I'm still waiting to get the banding data on them. So I'm guessing they were likely banded this year, maybe locally.Good Luck!iceman
Guest fancy pants Report post Posted October 5, 2011 That's mint. I have been craving duck since the opener but haven't had a chance to make it back out.
