Foz 25 Report post Posted October 22, 2011 I don`t have a hunting license or an FAC. My friend told me that if I am with a hunter who has a hunting license as well as an FAC that I can shoot the gun and shoot at grouse legally. He said that anything I shoot will count towards the limit of the hunter I am with. Is this true?

If you don't have a hunting licence (or an apprentice licence) then you cannot shoot at, be in search of, lie in wait for etc. any wild game. What your friend is referring to is the apprentice licence where a person between the ages of 12-14 successfully completes the hunter safety course and then shares a firearm with a licenced hunter. Any game taken by the apprentice forms part of the licenced hunters bag limit. The Firearms Act allows a minor to posses or shoot a firearm hunder the direct supervision (arms length) of a licenced adult.
