I was out there tonight, about 8-10 inches close in, saw one herring caught. I got nothing, marked a couple near bottom (whitefish?), maybe next time.

Walking out from the boat launch , how far out does one have to go to try for herring , whitefish etc. I am not really interested in greasy old lakers lol

For herring you can go really close to shore. And the lakers aren't the greasy kind they are the smaller redfins.

Was out there this afternoon, lost a whitey at the hole, couple other hits and marked a few, overall not too productive. Didnt have any herring come around while jigging up top.

Hey Canoehead,

Catch anything? I'm in the black portable 2 shacks down. Nothing here yet. Marked a few near bottom. Ice is only 5 inches where I am!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to get some local ice fishing info. Just moved up here from the Soo and would love to get out fishing. Don't really have an idea of what lakes or bays are fishable right now. Any info would be great!

Thanks and Good Fishing

We didn't catch anything yesterday, missed a couple. Today I went for a bit in the afternoon and that was better from about 2 to 4pm caught a few herring and missed a bunch more. We notcied that you can jig the herring off the bottom and they will come right under the ice. Pretty slow out there but fun.
