Guest Munshaw Report post Posted April 17, 2012 I'm always surprised by the number of guys that go out fishing, get a limit quick, then pack it in for the day. The goal of the trip is to "limit out" , not to "go fishing for the day/afternoon".There was a guy at Savanne that was packing up and heading home as we were launching who spent half an hour fishing and limited out three guys and was headed home... All that work (barring some other reason to be home) for half an hour seems like a waste. Total travel and prep time should not exceed fishing time. It's ALL IN for me.1. Storm (with 5 foot waves and a water spout)2. Back in the day another reason was out of beer. But that is a big NO NO and they don't get on board anymore.3. Flies. A bunch of years ago when those so called Friendly Flies were a problem. They drove us out of our mind while fishing Plumes. We litterly went to camp and sat in our tent for a few hours to calm down.Wes
unbedable 16 Report post Posted April 17, 2012 In Thailand, we saw a group of monkey's going through our belongings as we were in a kayak fishing, so had to head back and fend them off.But around here, the only thing that usually sends me back is horrific weather, motor trouble, or a challenge to a rematch of fooze-beer! Guest jackfish pete Report post Posted April 17, 2012 Most of the time it's because of canoe troubles:-Flipped it in rapids, wind and waves, and once when reaching over for a loose lure-Scratched it on rocks (you have to go back to shore to check for holes)-Had a lake trout that I couldn't pull into the canoe (went to shore to land it)-Blown out to some island in Lake Superior-Unable to go back into a strong wind-Lost a paddleOnly a few non-canoe related things:-Better fishing on shore-Lost a stringer so I had to kill the fish and bring it back immediately-Caught and released all the fish in a pool (sight fishing is awesome!)Edit (how in the world did I forget these???)-Tired of avoiding/catching/unhooking seagulls-Drunken jet-skiiers purposely speeding around me constantly, often turn to run right across my line less than 20 feet from the canoe
