milspec 9 Report post Posted September 17, 2012 Call up, Gary from Bait'n Arrows! (best to wait til the first week fo October as he is going moose hunting til then I believe) I was there last night talking to him. First impression, other then the fact that he was on a frenzy getting his stuff organized for hunting, he seems very biased on what he sells and what he will sell, but for good reason, he's been in the Industry for 12 years and was shedding some light on what bowhunting has become over the years (lots of gimmicks). Hey says when it comes down to broadheads, arrows etc etc, "they all shoot like bullets, its just like trucks, at the end of the day you're either a Ford or Chevy guy, they all do the same thing". I unfortunately found out that I fell into this gimmick pile pretty fast as a brand new archer/bowhunter. But now that Gary's tossed me a rescue line, I'm definitly going to be taking his experience of advice when it comes to selecting anything for my bow.To add to your question about how well slicktricks fly,From what I've read about arrow tuning, you can make any broadhead fly "nicer" by playing with the fletching, either adding longer vanes or more vanes. But with the more vanes you add the more drag you'll get. I can't remember where I read this, I think it might have been either the Bohning website or the Goldtip website, or maybe even a youtube video. If you want a good video source for bowtuning check out bowtuningtips.com, I've learnt a lot of neat things off that site.
