Snowball 75 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 Chili Con Carne2 TBSP salad oil3 med. onions, chopped (about 2 1/2 cups)2 garlic cloves , crushed2# ground beef1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes , undrained1 (6 oz) can tomato paste1 TBSP ground cumin 1 Bay Leaf21/2 tsp salt6 whole cloves or ground cloves (1/2 tsp)1/4 tsp cayenne pepper2 (15 oz) cans Kidney Beans, drained3 TBSP Chili powder1 (4oz) can chopped green chillies (Optional)In dutch oven, heat salad oil. Add onion and garlic, saute until tender, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up the pieces with a spoon. Spoon off fat. eddylives 99 Report post Posted May 22, 2013 I make a "cheating chilly" that we enjoy and it's very simpleUse 1-2 lbs ground meat browned , I prefer a 50/50 mix of lean beef and moose fried with diced onionsAdd one can manwhichOne can Libby's beansOne can kidney beans One can sliced mushroomsSimmer for a bit and enjoy.
