Your go to spinner colour?

Recommended Posts

I don't use spinners (lil' joes) too often. What are your go to colours and blade types?

hammered gold/hammered brass with red or green beads, or black with red beads in medium to clear lakes

bright colours in stained lakes usually chartreuse and orange or firetiger/perch patterns almost always in colorado blades

The holographic northland perch and golden shinner patterns seem to work well.

I like long aberdeen hooks for minnows and single octopus for leaches or multiple octopus for worms

I tied a bunch this year with fluoro usually I would use mono......I havnt found much difference, both worked....the fluro is harder to tie though. Prob fish spinners 99.9% of the time especially if Im fishing weed beds. I find an egg or bullet shaped sliding sinker tied to a small swivel and a mono spinner to be relatively weed free when trolling.

hammered copper or green with orange or gold beads. hook depends on bait like said above. I don't buy pre made spinners I carry a box in my tackle bag with blades hooks and different beads. through what I wanna use on my line. not a big fan of extra things on my line like swivels and such.

Caught you cheating lol. I'll show you tomorrow evening.

The evolution of my fishing has come full circle just like life [diaper to diaper]...Chartreus, Colorado blade, home tied, red beads in various lengths for years! Run and gun diehard jig fisherman for the last twenty years [magnum rapalas when trolling] and to complete the circle....an orange willow leaf with orange beads [garage sale little joe purchase because I was too lazy to tie my favorite] that I had in the bottom of my "argo tackle box" produced a 33.5 inch walleye this week. Just goes to show how little I know .....

Firetiger has never failed me. Every time I am in a stump with gold, silver, red/white etc, when I switch to the firetiger pattern, or even just the chartruese and bright orange without the black dots and green I start catching. Not just spinners either, jointed raps of all sizes, spoons, other raps and even Jig heads. Like you said, its my "go to".

Hammered Copper first then Firetiger both #3 colorado blades. The beed colours can vary but red or lime green works best for me I find.
