If it was for my wife and I, I think both of us would like separate boats and separate fishing spots. Sometimes we can't agree on how the boat is driven or the spots we fish. LOL Seriously, we took a rod building class together and really enjoyed it.

I am not sure what's available in your area. Before we moved full time to No. Minnesota we lived in the Twin Cities. Our son gave us a gift certificate for our anniversary to Thorne Brothers for a rod building class. It was interesting to learn the process. They had the instructor's there, they had the wrapping racks and the rod drying rotating racks. They taught the basics of the handle, guides etc. They showed how to do the fancy diamond wraps at the base of the rod etc. We have since built quite a few other rods. It is kind of nice to do it together. BTW, I think my wife does a better job than me. I have even caught her wiping her rod down after we are done fishing, just like how you wipe a gun down after a day in the field. LOL
