Gone8to1248 158 Report post Posted January 23, 2014 The rod class is now closed and full. Seeing how this one goes there may be more in the future. Maybe in the future we can do classes on exotic thread wrapping and marbling and inlaying.
Pro fisherman-Stud Muffin 420 Report post Posted January 23, 2014 nice, glad to see the class filled up. so everyone makes their own rod in that class? Quote 2016 Dog Lake Open Champion. Thunder Bay BASSmasters Vice-President
Gone8to1248 158 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Everyone will build their own 7' medium/fast spinning rod. You will size and put on the handles, reel seat, and fore-grip,after locating the spine of the rod. Next you will lay out the guide spacing for the rod. Then you will learn how to do the thread wraps that hold the guides in place. After all that is done you will apply the finish epoxy to the rod and place on a rotating rod dryer to self level the epoxy and let it dry overnight. This class done here they normally charge from $150-$400. The only cost in this class is for the rod kits. We are supplying all the threads, epoxies, tools.and machine (stands) for doing the actual building. The lessons are free!! This is only to introduce people into the world of Basic Rod Building. From that point on you can get into Thread Wrapping Designs,Marbling,Skinz and Decals to decorate your rod out. This is a great winter hobby for building some real class fishing rods to suit your own personal needs.
