Should be pretty much ice free by tomorrow night. 1 Quote "If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles." Bottom Bouncer 22 Report post Posted May 3, 2015 Once again thanks Pat for the pictures. Like Trevor says it's nice to see the progress on the lake. I to look forward to your pics every spring also. Can you estimate water levels on Shebandowan and have you heard anything about levels being low all summer because of Dam work ? 1 Quote REELBAIT
Resource Pimp 60 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 Levels are slightly lower compared to graphs of other years for this time of year. I too thought they would be low this summer, but OPG says the dam work will start 2016. The dam was shut off a week ago but level is slow to rise as they shut off the Kashabowie dam as well. Trevor Zimak 171 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 Ya on my run Saturday when I ran by the Kash River on the highway, there is hard any water coming down.
WalleyeWayne 137 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 .....and there ain't no run-off from the west to be had. Rainy Lake is close to 5' down. When you figure the flooding they had last year on Rainy Lake that raised the levels close to 3.5' above normal, that's about an 8' drop from last summer to this spring. Crazy!!! flybum 95 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 Water temp at the MNR launch was 42.6. Warmest I found in some bays was 46.8. 5 hours of shoreline work and only got a couple pike. Disclaimer.... I don't know my elbows from a hole in the ground when it comes to shebandowan. Was pretty fricken windy as well! Geez...Was nice to get out tho!!! Cheers! Resource Pimp 60 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 Looks like ice out is rapidly progressing for the rest of Shebandowan. I come home from town today and Southwest Bay is wide open. I take the atv down to Ambush Narrows on Middle and its iced over, but according to todays MODIS it looks like its only iced over from Ambush Narrows to Youngs Bay. All of Shebandowan should be ice free well before the weekend. This will be the final report this year.
