Salmon fishing - line length from cannon balls and off planner boards

Recommended Posts

hunt or be hunted

Hello everyone ! So seeing as it's that time of year again and all us salmon fishermen/women are out their chasing those beautifull Chrome fish I thought I'd start a topic on line length from behind the cannon ball and off the planner boards, curious to see if anyone use's any particular length set back from the cannon ball or planner boards ? Or does everyone play random lengths off each until ur somewhat dialed into the fish ? Stacking ur downrigger lines vs not ? Cheater lines or not ?

I try it all, Once you find what works then stick with it.....I run longer (60Feet) back and as little as 1o feet......I gave up on stacking only because I hate hauling up 2 lines at once to change or from a fish. So I put 2 more electrics on my boat. Still trying to figure them out this year and sure has gotten a lot less active in the last 5 years!
